Earthquake in Michigan – Detroit Area

We just had a earthquake here in Michigan and the surrounding Metro-Detroit Area about 5 minutes ago. The whole building was swaying and shaking. It is odd to think that even Michigan is prone to quakes.

UPDATE: We have just found out that the quake started at near the Ontario/Quebec border at 1:41 p.m.

The earthquake, that began almost 10 miles underground, slowed down as it reached mid-Michigan. There are hundreds of reports of taller buildings were swaying, but most of the people that were at the ground level did not feel much.

Local experts have reported that the tremors were felt as far away as Kalamazoo and Battle Creek.

Leave a Comment Below to let us know if you felt it too!

Find Movie Auditions in Michigan for Extras & Casting Calls

Michigan Movie AuditionsIf you are ambitious and have a great passion for acting, the first step to jump start your acting career in Michigan is an audition. Contrary to popular belief you do not need to attend acting school as your first step to becoming an actor, you can easily find movie extra jobs. Now you might be extremely abashed, the reason to this is because an audition is where directors scout out many individuals who have a great desire to act and would be great actors in television shows, television commercials, and maybe even a movie that is filmed in Michigan.

Movie auditions and casting calls in Michigan are not held once a year, once a month, or once a week, but are held on daily basis. In order to find out what days and times these auditions are on you must hire a dependable agent or agency to assist you.

Be sure to dress neat but also comfortable to the auditions, and always arrive a little before the audition starts so you can relax before it begins.

As soon as it is your turn to step up to the stage your name will be called; walk over to the director, and hand him your headshot, your resume, and get ready to take the stage. Soon after you step off the stage you will be interviewed, during this interview act normal.

If you were talented enough to be selected then you join a small group of other people who were also selected, being selected does not guarantee you the part you auditioned for.

If you are not selected for the final role do not fetter over this, since you made it to the small group of selected people you will most likely be given a part as an extra. Most stars don’t make the staring role at their first audition either!

Being given the main role is a very difficult thing to do, but with a lot of practice and a dependable talent agency, you can jump start your acting career and find movie auditions in Michigan or casting calls by submitting an application here.

How To Become a Model: My Modeling Story

Comp Card - Anastasia SmithI came to One Source Talent in 2006 as a young girl who dreamed of becoming a model with no way to do it. I met with the Talent Specialist in the Detroit office, Emma Reamer, and was as nervous as could be when she stepped out to see if I was marketable. After seeing her comp card online I knew I wanted to become a model and would give anything for her to come back in and tell me that I would get my own.  After hearing the good news I got my card set-up, booked a photo shoot with Scott Sprague and a week later got cast for a huge runway show! I made my mom go with me to buy some new high heels and practiced all week. After the first fashion show I knew that my dream to be a model was going to come true and I continued on with the fashion shows.

One of my favorite fashion shows that I did was a Charity show at the Roostertail in 2008. It was labeled “Be Bad for a Good Cause.” I think I enjoyed it so much because we rehearsed three days in a row coming up to the show and it gave me an opportunity to meet a bunch of new people. I have kept in contact with a lot of the models from the show and have made great relationships with some of them. I enjoy the whole process of fashion or hair shows. Getting the hair, make-up, and clothes –it’s so glamorous!

I feel so lucky to have the contacts that I do in this industry. I started at One Source Talent and have met with everyone from casting directors to make-up artists. I have been able to network myself out into the industry from the people I’ve met through this company. It has been a great beginning source, opening plenty of doors for me. Just recently I attended an event in Chicago called Launch. I met with over forty casting directors and met on a more casual call back with six representatives. I would not have been able to attend that milestone event in my modeling career without seeing everyone here as often as I do.

Since that first day I came into the OST office and got my comp card set-up, I have done over fifty fashion shows, tons of promotional modeling work for dealerships and salons, a few different hair shows, been in 3 magazines-on the cover of one, and worked with two awesome fashion photographers in the metro area. It is interesting to see yourself in a magazine and even more surreal when your family calls you to say they saw you! I have worked with Scott Sprague and Christian O’Grady and loved every shoot with them. They made it so easy for me to just feel as comfortable as you can in front of a camera. I have loved my modeling career so far, and I’m excited to see what’s to come.  Getting a comp card through OST has been an awesome influence in my life and a true help for me when I decided to become a model.  I’m so grateful for everyone there who has and continues to help me out with my dreams of becoming a model!
